11 days overdue, Alice Eva was born on 20 September at 4.48am. She weighed 7lb 12oz. At the time I was thankful to avoid induction, since I was induced with my first dd at 38 weeks.
With hindsight, both labours were very similar in their intensity and speed. Appx 5 hours. I'd always assumed ARM had made the last 2 hours of my last labour so intense but this time my waters did not rupture until 10 minutes before delivery and the pain all felt the same Needless to say, entonox was my best friend again
If anything, my induced labour was a nicer experience because the time spent being monitored allowed me and DH time to build up a rapport with the midwife. This time round, I got to hospital less than 2 hours before delivery and contractions were 2 minutes apart. The assigned midwife wasn't the warmest of people on the delivery floor and she was unable to learn much about me or my preferences when my contractions were coming one on top of the other.
I'd so wanted a waterbirth this time round but the pool was being used. It's a busy week on the labour wards - all those Christmas conceptions popping out!
Alice is beautiful and we are thrilled to finally have her with us.
