I still remember being told and I burst into tears. My other grandad had died 3 months earlier.

Aww love, i can understand where your at. I dont think we ever get over the death of someone who we really loved or who loved us, especially a grandparent.
my granny was one of those gentle hearted women who had an immense capacity for unconditional love, and i cry every time i think of her. i miss her so much still and she died 12yrs ago.

It's a real tribute to your grandad that he is still so loved and remembered and missed all theses years after.

I would trade my mother for him in a heartbeat. He really loved me. She doesn't even like me.

Hi Fab, I never knew any of my grandparents - how wonderful that you have loving memories of your Grandad - he must have been a remarkable person for him to be missed so much. Sorry to hear about how your mum feels.

He did really love me. On his death bed he told my nana not to forget me. He used to carry me on his shoulders and sing "All things bright and beautiful." He died way too young.
