DS asked if he would have a Grandma at his new house

Both my mother and MIL died before he was born.

We are just about to move back to the village where I grew up, to be closer to my brother and sister.

Have spent the morning weeping instead of packing

aww, adopt a granny via age concern ( i think) maybe that will help your son

Thanks custardo. Actually he is OK for grannies. My brother and sister is much older than me and her children are at university so they and BIL are doing a great job at the surrogate Grandparenting.

I think it's just me that feels it.

Bless him. They really do say what they are thinking don't they. I'm glad that your DSis and BIL are there as surrogates for your DS, but feel so sad for you today.

DD has only once asked to go and see Grandad since my Dad died but it stopped me in my tracks, so can understand how you must be feeling.

Have a good old weep and a cup of tea and then get the photo albums out and remember those happy times and think forward to all the happy times your DS will have growing up in the same place as you.
