Can anyone help

My dad died yesterday of asbestosis.

But we have been told today that because it classed as an industrial injury they have to have an autopsy and an inquest needs to be opened.

Sorry if it not clear as i'm not able to think straight.

So sorry for your loss. I think that the coroners, etc, will do their best to proceed as quickly as possible to the point where they can release the body for a funeral to be held. If you have chosen an undertaker/funeral director then this person might be able to help or at least do the chasing of the court staff on your behalf.
Hope all goes as smoothly as possible.

Hi Lizziemum,

Sorry to hear about your dad. I work in the area of inquests and if there is a date that the family cannot make, just put it in writing to the coroner and ask that they don't list the hearing for that day if they can avoid it. Most coroners will try to accommodate you if they are able to.

Thanks for the replies.

We been told today that body has been released.

And his funeral will be on the 29th.

My next question is has anyone been to a humanist funeral.

Dad has arrange one as he didn't agree with any religion and i have no idea what to expect.
