My Gran died this morning

My Gran has been ill for 5 years really, and over the last few weeks getting a lot worse, so it wasn't unexpected, but it doesn't make you any less sad, does it?

She had chronic lung disease and had been on oxygen 24 hours a day for the past year. The past few weeks she was getting worse, sonstantly fighting for breath and her heart was beating much too fast and the doctors couldn't stop it. She really had no quality of life so it is for the best really, I'm just so sad not to have her here any more.

Oh love. I am so sorry. I agree it doesn't help. My nana died 3 1/2 years ago and I was told she wouldn't last the week. Didn't really believe it and she died Friday afternoon.

Give yourself time to grieve and try and remember the good times. She is at peace now.

My Mum said to me earlier that she did have a good life, and the frail old lady who couldn't breathe wasn't really my Gran and she is right.

She used to go on about 4 holidays a year with her best friend. She would visit friends all over the country, go swimming. She was really active.

I'm trying to think about that.
