My Nan died suddenly last week and the funeral is on Tuesday.
I have to travel for this so have to take my ds (3.10yo) with me and as everyone will be at the funeral I have no-one who can look after him.
Do you think he will be ok? He won't understand whats going on but don't want to upset him.

Sorry for your loss.

It will probably will take a lot of the stress out of it to have a small child around. You will need to explain to him in a way he'll understand what is happening. Maybe not at the internment.

I think he'll be fine as long as you can explain everything beforehand (and during the service also, maybe). My mistake with ds at same age was to assume he understood too much. Had explained everything I thought, until he piped up, 'what's the big wooden box for?'

But I found no one minded at all.

Hope it goes OK.

Don't say that she went to sleep. That always concerned me as a child. He will probably have lots of follow-up questions in the future, so be prepared.
