My Neice's baby has died

My lovley step neice gave birth to a wonderful baby boy called Lincoln. It was a traumatic birth and he suffered oxegen deprevation and wasnt expected to survive, but survice he did. See this thread

He managed to thrive and was doing well, had been christened and was a joy, who loved being surrounded by other children.

Without warning and totally unexpectedly he suffered a fit yesterday and died in her arms at 4am this morning.

I am so proud of her for the love and jopy she gave Lincoln and am beside myself that this little bundle has been taken from us so premeturely, espeically as no one had chance to see what he was capable off.

It is exspecailly hard as he was only at the hospital last week for a check up and he was fine.

He is being taken for a PM this afternoon and she wants her world to end.

Other than be there for my wonderful sister in law and her family I do not know what to do. I have been to see her this morning and obviously she is hysterical and just wants to bring him home

You have so much to cope with right now, do you have some good support?

How terrible. I am so sorry to hear this.

MaryBS · 13/06/2008 16:03

That is really sad

Can you help with day to day things like food for her family (not sure what family situation is), washing, ironing, cleaning, that sort of thing?

And like you say, just BE there for her?

Your poor niece , how absolutely awful especially when Lincoln seemed to be doing so well after a shaky start.

I'm just so terribly sorry to hear this awful news, MadHouse. It's such a shock, after everything he and your niece had been through.

I'm always there to lend an ear if you need to get things off your chest. You've got my e-mail address x

TheMadHouse · 14/06/2008 03:04

Thank you for all your kind words, it all seems like a haze.

I feel honoured to have met and spent time with "Lincy", he really was a special boy. When in the compnay of children his eyes would go wide and he would be so inquisitive and full of joy.

I can not understand (nor so I really want to) the pain of leaving your first and only child at the hospital, espeically after such a traumatic entrace in to this world.

I hope that the PM gives some answers, but am not holding out a lot of hope. Like after the birth we are all here for our family should they need us.

I am proud to be part of such a family.

Live can be so cruel
