Apparently I need 3 pieces of music, entrance and exit and one in the middle.
My choices so far are
Make me a channel of your piece to be played as we enter with words.
Nearer to be thee (Dad's choice)
I also wanted to play Be by Neil diamond during a moment of reflection as I played this as he passed. As for exit music I'm struggling but I really like They prayer instrumental although not sure if it's too sad. I have no idea about prayers except for the Lords prayer. I haven't been to many funerals and never been to a Catholic one before. It won't be held in a Catholic church hoping the vicar will come to us.

Had Ave Maria at mother and father's funeral. Or, I like Panis Angelica's. Abide with me always works at a funeral too

We have a crematorium, apparently the priest can come to us? Obviously I'm not sure as haven't got that far in planning yet but that's what people have told me. The Catholic church roof has fallen down so can't do it there anyway.

Well, you can have a short funeral service, but not a funeral Mass. Those aren’t held outside churches.

Firstly, I’m so sorry for your loss 💐

Priests do conduct funerals in Crematoria. In terms of prayers, the Priest will prepare these - you do not need to do this yourself. You may be asked your thoughts on what are known as the bidding prayers and also for the Readings - but if you do not know any yourself the Priest will guide you on this.

Do not be afraid to be very open with the Priest and ask him what he needs from you.

RC guidance is that secular music should not be played in Church settings, but some priests do allow it. However, as you are in a Crematorium I would ask the Funeral Director for guidance on this.

Wishing you all the best. Remember that the Priest and the Funeral Directors know what they are doing - and also that they are very used to any question that you may have for them - no matter how silly you think it sounds.

We had a Neil Diamond song for my sister's funeral - Catholic church - absolutely no problem (was not the same one), along with traditional Catholic hymns (Soul of my Saviour was one).
