What a beautiful post, YG.

I was searching for something else the other night and came across a post earlier in 2006 where you were talking about the sudden death of a friend's husband. It seemed so poignant, knowing the tragedy you suffered later that summer. It really brought home to me the fragility of life.

I hope the holiday brings you warmth and peace. Your DDs sound like lovely girls.

Mummy2TandF · 15/05/2008 22:56

YG - I am sure that you and the girls will have a lovely time and I am of a holiday in Portugal ... don't want company do you?
I just wanted to say that you really are an insperation to me and reading your threads gives me hope - as you know Craig died almost a year after Nigel, also of SADS and through some of my lowest days thoughts of you have kept me going. And your girls sound wonderful, I hope my dc's are as ok as yours .... Thank You so much.

Tommy · 15/05/2008 22:59

Hope you have a wonderful time.
I think of you very often - didn't realise it was already 2 years - you're doing great.

Oh darling girl, I am so proud of you.

robinpud · 15/05/2008 23:28

Yorkie- I saw you had been interviewed; that must have been painful and cathartic. I can sympathise with your relief that the girls didn't see Nigel; my dh had to do CPR on his mum and it left him with a lot of difficult emotions to deal with. I hope that you are slowl becoming more able to contain those awful memories and linger over the happy ones.

It's lovely to see you posting; I know there have been difficult times and milestones to overcome; I hope that things continue to go well and that Portugal is hot and sunny for you. ( and us as we are going too!)

Take care

expatinscotland · 15/05/2008 23:29

Yorkie, what a moving post!

Wishing you all the best.

I'll bet Nigel is so amazed at you.

chipmonkey · 15/05/2008 23:30

Good for you, Yorkie! So glad you feel able to go back!

solodad · 16/05/2008 09:20

Yorkiegirl,

I know there is nothing that can be said, but just to say well done and hope it is a positive experience for you.

I'm in a similar situation to you and M2T&F, currently at 13 months in with 2 boys (4years and 22 months Now)

Like M2T&F, I can draw much needed strength from reading positive posts like this one. Thank you.

YG, that's a lovely post. I hope you and the girls have a wonderful holiday, remembering Nigel with love and happy memories
Some cliches got to be that way because they are true, and "A year and a day" after a bereavement is one of them IME XXX

Thinking of you YG, I simply can't believe it's been 2 years since your DH died.

Hope you can have fun on your holiday

bellavita · 16/05/2008 15:13

Yorkiegirl - you have brought tears to my eyes.

Hope you have a really nice holiday

trulymadlydeeply · 16/05/2008 19:50

Such a moving post.

Have a lovely holiday, Yorkiegirl. I'm sure it will be bittersweet, but hopefully the happy memories will begin to offset the sad reminders.

Lots of love.

sophiewd · 16/05/2008 19:53

What a beautiful post, I joined MN just when all this was happening to you and was completely overwhelmed by the level of support that was offered to you.

Nbg · 16/05/2008 19:59

Ahh Yorkie, you are a star.
I hope you all have a lovely time there.
They sound like amazing little girls.

Saggarmakersbottomknocker · 16/05/2008 20:00

YG - I saw on another thread recently that you were going back and wondered if it would be for the first time.

When you've posted about your holidays there before you've always sounded so enthusiastic about the area; it's obvious that it's a place that you loved going to. I hope you have a lovely holiday and it brings you some good memories of the times you spent there with Nigel.

SNoraWotzThat · 16/05/2008 20:07

What an amazing post.
I have no wise words, other than to say thank you for posting them.
