* LONG POST *

Hi everyone,😊

I am new to Mumsnet so I want to introduce myself and how I created a grief journal for children, who are currently or have suffered with grief.

My name is Sian, I’m 34 and live in Caernarfon with my three children Tesni (16) Tomi (10) and Osian (8). I have a bachelor's degree in Childhood and Youth Studies and Psychology, and I am currently studying a counselling degree. I want to become a grief counsellor for children and youth.

So I have created a grief journal for children.Before I begin explaining about the journal, I would like to share my journey of grief as a mum of three children.
I was with my partner Jonathan for 11 years. We were a happy family. However, in August 2023 Jonathan passed away unexpectedly. He was 38 years old. As a family we were shocked and saddened by his passing, especially my children. Myself and the children are still in the grieving process.

Due to my experience, I decided to create a grief journal for children. The journal is perfect for ages 6 - 12 years old. I am in the process of creating ones for teenagers and adults.

The journal is in pdf form, and includes multiple activities. These include writing a pretend letter to their loved one, drawing pictures of a happy memory, a children’s story about grief, drawing how they are feeling i.e., sad face, happy etc, create collages, write letters to themselves, and positive quotes at the end of the journal.

The grief journal is in pdf form and is available to use on devices such as computers, laptops, tablets etc and is easily printable. Also the journal can be edited therefore they can use the grief journal everyday or when they feel like using the journal and print it out.

I believe it’s a wonderful idea for children and hopefully will help them throughout the grieving process which is a difficult and sad time. I believe it can also support family and friends by putting less strain on them by coping with their child/children going through grief.

If you would like to receive a grief journal for your children please send me a private message or email [email protected].

You're doing great😊
Thank you,
Sian x
