Naming angel babies

ParentToAngelsAndOneOnTheWay · 16/10/2024 15:12

I'm not a fan of many unisex names so I liked the idea of giving every angel baby of mine two names each, one for each sex, for example I could refer to my first angel baby as Christopher and Christina. Idk if that makes much sense lol. Does anyone think that would be way too complicated or is it a sweet idea?

If it is a sweet idea to you is all that matters. You do the thing that brings you comfort.

Oh bless you. I’m so sorry for your losses.

I don’t think anyone could possibly think badly of any way you chose to honour your babies, it’s an absolutely personal thing and no one’s business but yours. But regardless of that, I think it sounds like a very lovely way to recognise them and to mark their personhood, individuals with a name and a personality that you have a special relationship with, whichever sex they would have been.

Thank you so much, I've been through so many miscarriages and it didn't feel right to give them unisex names as they would have had a sex and a name specific to that if they had been earthside so I'm so glad you get where I'm coming from with that. Your response was so kind thank you.

We named all of our angel babies - in fact the very first one was named "Angel Francis". We'd both had a very strong feeling she was a girl but I chose her father's middle name as "her" middle name, but deliberately chose to spell it in the masculine style as in those days, "Angel" was seen as a female name (think Home And Away in the 90s).
As a mother of babies born way too soon, I totally understand where you're coming from and it's your right to name your children x

It's lovely and appropriate, not complicated or confusing at all. I named mine, they are part of you and your family after all however long they were with you.

I live in the city where the miscarriage association is .
There used to be a tree where you could attached hearts and notes.. for your loss.
But l don't think it's there anymore due to that particular hospital being demolished.

That's such a sweet idea, I've got a little white Christmas tree in my room that's there all year round that I decorate on different occasions for my babies but I've never thought of adding there names I'm definitely going to do that. Also thank you for the link I've never seen that miscarriage website before it looks really good.

That sounds sweet. I'm sure you've got a few names in mind that mean something special to you. I have an 'angel' sister who has the same name as me. Whatever you think feels right.
Sorry for your losses x

Wishing you lots of luck in your current pregnancy. I have had several miscarriages and a stillbirth. But my rainbow baby is now 12 years old. I still remember how terrified I was throughout my pregnancy with her. Take it easy, one day at a time.
