My Dad died 1yr ago today. Still cant believe it at times.
Your dad sounds so like mine...a great big, rough handed from work and the garden, man full of fun and laughter. Mine was a plumber and had served in the parachute regiment...and he loved classical music too, the pearl fishers duet and Bruch violin concerto and Sibelius but his passion was for Brass bands...we had the Ride of the Valkyries played by Brighouse and Rastrick at is funeral. He developed asbestosis and mesothelioma at a very young and active 74 and it took him within 4 months....I was 10 weeks pregnant at the time, we hadnt told him because he has been upset about my m/c the previous Sept...his grandson is now 5 months old and I will always regret that I didnt make him a grandfather in life...he so loved children and was a magical father.
