On the 3rd of June, SoBS started running a campaign for 100 days on the run-up to World Suicide Prevention day (which falls on the 10th of September).
The campaign is called "Hope in Every step" and volunteers, supporters, donors and everyone in-between were challenged to walk or run 100 million steps collectively in the 100 days. So far, we have reached a total of 77,720,047 steps - and there are still 86 days left to go!
This is not a fundraiser. The idea is to raise awareness of the amazing work that SoBS does, helping those of us who are left behind. They offer peer-led support to adults impacted by suicide loss. I have rung their helpline and read their leaflets. DH has taken part in their online support group for men. Nothing makes it better, but this has helped, in small ways, which is all we can ask for...
If you have been bereaved by suicide, support is available from Survivors of Bereavement by Suicide – Survivors of Bereavement by Suicide – Overcoming the isolation of people bereaved by suicide (uksobs.org)
