My sister and I were lucky enough to have spent lots of time with him over the past few weeks and we were with him when he passed. It was so peaceful and he had been so very poorly.
I miss him so much.

Very sorry for your loss. It’s so painful to lose a beloved parent. I still miss my lovely dad seven years after he died. But the pain does lessen. Sending you a virtual hug x

Oh I'm so sorry OP. I lost my dad at Easter so I understand your pain. Just here holding your hand.
Do you want to talk about your dad? What did he do with his life? Were you close?

Thank you. Sorry for your losses, it really is so hard.
My dad was my best friend - we've always been really close and I saw him a few times a week prior to his stroke in 2019. I have ADHD and he's the only person who's ever really accepted me for who I am and allowed me to be me.
He doted on his family, and lived for us. He absolutely adored his grandchildren.
He had a massive stroke and had to go into a care home - he couldn't speak and lost the use of his right hand side. We went to see him when we could, but Covid closed the home for a long time. Still we went to see him through the window, and I held up my newborn to him whenever I could.
Thankfully, we've been able to see him a lot over the past few months and have the lovely memory of 3 weeks ago, eating fish and chips with him in his room with my girls.
He deteriorated pretty quickly since a hospital admission a few weeks ago and he seemed to have lost the will to fight really.
Luckily we live very close, so I spent most evenings with him last week, which was just wonderful.
He passed very peacefully, and week always be grateful for that and that we were there.

He sounds like he lived a very good life OP, focusing on the things that really mattered.

Sorry for your loss, I am glad you got to spend time with your Dad, he sounds like a lovely man.

It is so hard, my children’s father died beginning of April at 53, he lived over 5 hours away but we had him buried here so they can go and visit him and talk to him and they go most days they are 19, 17 and 15. They got necklaces with their names in his handwriting taken from birthday/Xmas cards and they will get a necklace with his fingerprint on which the undertakers took.
