Funeral clothes for breastfeeding

Hi all, I apologise for the comparatively trivial nature of this post.

I have just lost a parent and I'm days away from giving birth. My head's just full of practical things right now but the thing I'm stuck on is funeral wear.

I need something funeral appropriate (so black and relatively modest), but that won't be boiling hot, and that I can breastfeed in

Does anyone have any ideas please?

Thanks for any help.

Oh gosh that’s tough.

How about vest top under another top so you can do ‘one up, one down’.

No one will mind what you wear.

I’m so sorry for your loss. Have a look on here:

JojoMamanBebe does nursing clothes and also maternity wear. It looks like some of them are black.

Another brand to try is Seraphine - they also do maternity clothes which are compatible with breastfeeding. I’m sure it’s not your top priority at the moment but they’re quite flattering and tend to accommodate changing shapes, which can be useful immediately post-birth.

ive just had a nice black linen blend shirt from M&S which if you wore open over a camisole
or top, with black linen trousers, would work? Sadly it’s now showing as out of stock.

But along those lines?

I'm so sorry OP. That's really hard & I hope you manage to get through the next period of mourning & welcoming your baby at the same time.

I wouldn't worry about this. Anything that's suitable to breastfed in or wear post-partum will be fine. You won't be wearing funeral wear for very long in any case.

So I would focus on a practical top you can lift up - usually t-shirt / shirt with vest underneath works well.
Take care 💐

Sorry for your loss. I wore this from Next when I attended a funeral whilst breastfeeding. I understand entirely the need to focus on small, tangible things which are in your control.

I have also got these from Seraphine which are the comfiest things I have ever worn, and you could absolutely get away with wearing. Or I see they do a jogger style pair which you could maybe add a different top to, if you wanted to smarten up?

Please do also reach out to your midwife - maybe get DP to when you go to the labour ward? Hormones are a bigger at the best of times, and you might need a bit of extra support in the days and weeks after.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I went to a funeral when DC2 was a couple of weeks old. I wore a navy blue nursing dress from Seraphine and took a cardigan to help cover up as well.
