A friend is marrying his long term partner (same sex).
My friend was recently given 12 weeks to live. They have just been granted a special licence to marry quickly.
A very small Registry Office wedding.
Any suggestions for gifts?
I know they won’t want, need anything, but I want to do something special for the pair of them to make it a special day.

When I was invited to a wedding in a similar situation I have them a nice photo album.

how is your friend’s mobility OP? Is he up for doing anything?

how about hiring a vintage sports car to take them out for a run on the wedding day?

How about a Just Eat voucher and a bottle of champagne? Romantic dinner for two at home.

How is your friend in terms of mobility and ability to get around etc? Just aware that different people can feel more able to get out than others with that prognosis.

I'm thinking could you arrange something for them that's an experience rather than a gift as such. Maybe someone that could come to their home and prepare a fancy dinner if your friend wouldn't feel up to going out.

Or one of the electric photo frames loaded up with memories they've shared.

Are they going to try to do a honeymoon of sorts? Could you contribute to that if so.

Could you pay for something for the actual wedding, a surprise performer/ lovely meal somewhere fancy after/ special pampering before or on the morning of?

Champagne for them to share and raise a glass, and then something small and quirky like matching socks with their wedding date or something on.

I had a close family member pass away young, and the Christmas beforehand we all were gifted matching socks by a family member. When close family member passed, she was buried in her socks. We all wear ours for special occasions, or when we have a day we really miss her. It's a very specific quirky print and just pulling them onto my feet makes me feel all happy and brings back memories of her.

I would say if the partner is up to it an experience would be the way to go. Does he have any particular interest? Cars, football, planes, golf, music etc?

Thumb print key rings.
