My mothers and daughters birthday

my mother passed this year, my daughter and mother so her gran birthday is the same day. My daughter doesn’t want to celebrate her birthday anymore, what can I do to help her want to celebrate it?

Make a point of remembering her gran one day or 2 days before.
I imagine by next year she’ll be ok to celebrate her birthday on the date.

She is 17, we would always go round to her grans have like lunch with a lovely cake her gran always made and then go for a meal at night, but they never spend a birthday apart.

Maybe suggest her taking over and carrying on the tradition and baking a cake in memory of her gran each year, or suggesting her gran would want her to enjoy her birthday.

But as it is so soon after your loss I would respect your dd wishes for this year, play it low key and take the day as it comes.
