It's my mums funeral today and I'm a mess

It's my mums funeral today, I'm shaking, feel sick, have a dodgy tummy and can't get off the toilet. I need to get a grip and get ready, but I just want to stay in bed and pretend this isn't happening.

Sending you lots of strength OP, it’s so difficult when you lose your mum. Offering. Hand hold throughout the day if you need it Flowers

Saying a prayer for you now. These are tough times.

I’m so sorry for the loss of your Mom. I hope you get through today-that’s all you can hope for and, once today is over, you can crawl into bed and give in to the pain you feel x

Oh, honey. What a day you have ahead of you. Do you want to tell us about her, or the plans for today.

I had shingles at my mom's funeral. Everybody gigged me so tight. The pain was something else. But, it was so lovely to hear everyone remembering her and the love we felt from everyone was enough to get is through it. It want as bad as I'd expected, like you, I was dreading it.

Lots of love and light to get you through today.

Just take tiny steps and try and look after yourself sending you a big hug xx

I know exactly how you feel, take some Immodium, take a deep breath, you can do this.

At my Mums funeral I felt as though I was being dragged reluctantly through treacle, I didn’t want to accept that this is where I had to be because my Mum had died ( she died suddenly so I was probably still in shock) but I did it with the help of my family and several boxes of tissues.

You can do this, for yourself and for your lovely Mum. 💐

I got through a difficult funeral by knowing that this day is just for her, that she will be close as everyone will be speaking her name, thinking about her and talking about her, that she would be there with me through everyone's love for her.

Thinking of you today.

So sorry for your loss OP.

Lots of really deep breathing today. Count to 5 on the inward breath, hold it for a few seconds and then count of 5 to exhale. Do this every time you feel emotion welling up.

Easier said than done but try not to panic about the day. Your funeral director will have everything in hand and will ensure it all goes smoothly. Do you have anything like Imodium in the cupboard that you could take to try stop the toilet runs?

I hope you have someone close with you who can offer support and soothing words when you need it. Take care.

So sorry for your loss, DumpedByText Flowers

Today will be hard but you just need to get through it. No one will expect you to be "together" - the people at the funeral are there for you as well as your mum. Hugs for you x

FitFat · 02/09/2022 08:03

Sorry for your loss.

Do not take immodium.

Hugs.

TartanGirl1 · 02/09/2022 08:05

I am sorry for your loss!

It is awful, I remember sitting in the floor before my dads funeral thinking I just couldn't do it. It's your mum, you don't have to keep it together.

Do you have any Imodium you can take?

Notonthestairs · 02/09/2022 08:17

Would a mug of sweet tea help? Ribena?

Take your time. People will wait.

Sorry for your loss.
