He had a massive heart attack. Despite the efforts of the paramedics he just couldn't be saved. I just want to tell someone who isn't family.

So sorry, what a shock...must seem very surreal right now Flowers

I am so sorry, that must have been a dreadful shock for you. Do you have someone with you?

Lifeisbeautiful01 · 17/01/2022 05:18

That’s so dreadful for you- you must be in shock. I hope you have someone there with you.

ifeelabitsad · 17/01/2022 05:18

I am so sorry. Do you want to tell us about him x

loislovesstewie · 17/01/2022 05:19

I have my adult kids. I can't stop crying. The paramedics said he wouldn't have known anything, so I'm grateful for that.

He was a Victor Meldrew older man, but he could be really funny too.

So sorry for your loss.

AlDanvers · 17/01/2022 05:28

Oh I am so sorry for your loss. I lost mum in similar circumstances 6 weeks ago.

Be kind to yourself. Do what you think you need to do to get through. Lean on your kids. I am sure you will be there for them, but let them be there for you too.

I am so sorry. You will be in my thoughts. Flowers

Many thanks for your kind messages. I had to do CPR until the paramedics arrived, and I keep thinking I might not have got it right. Then I think, but he did look as if he had died when I found him, so it keeps going round my head.

Oh bless you and perfectly understandable. The 'what if's' are torture but also the survival statistics of CPR outside of a hospital are quite low I believe and you would have done your best in the circumstances. When my Dad died of a sudden heart attack (I found him) I knew he was dead but every scenario went round in my head of the 'what if's '. I think it's your brains way of hoping for a different outcome and you almost have to go through it to understand the traumatic event if that makes sense. I probably haven't explained it very well but it's perfectly normal for everything going around in your head. It's still so very raw. You will be in my thoughts Flowers

I'm so sorry for your loss Flowers.
You did everything you possibly could. Please look after yourself, you've had a dreadful shock.

@loislovesstewie I’m so sorry for your loss Flowers I’m sure you did absolutely everything right so please don’t feel that you didn’t! Sometimes these things are just too big Sad I’m really sorry that you had to go through that experience of finding him though. As others have said - be kind to yourself and let your children support you as I’m sure you will support them Flowers
