He was only 11 years old.

Had suffered from a terminal illness since birth but his passing was still very sudden.

Why do such sad things still happen at a time of year when everyone is supposed to be happy.

Oh no

I am so very sorry for you and your friends

When things like this happen I think it is best to think of Christmas as just another day. (My Grandmother died on Christmas day, and it was just another day for quite a few years after that)!

I don't know what to say

(((hugs))
take care of your friend, don't hide your sadness from them, just be there to share whatever you can of theirs.
Have you got DC similar age or younger? it makes it so hard doesn't it?

A little girl, age 10, who I taught, went to be an angel in may, it is still so hard.
it makes you think about little things with your own dc being so special, and so many times i remember that poor mum who has lost her child. I don't think that the 'terminal' aspect makes an awful lot of difference in that it is so hard when a child dies.
being brave is not hiding the tears, it is being able to talk about the lo and support your friend.
take care.

MerryBiglipsmas · 24/12/2007 00:30

so sorry to hear

Yes Gigglewitch, my DS is 9 and I have two lo's age 3 & 1.

The little boy actually lived alot longer than predicted but it doesnt make it any less sad especially give the time of year. Our friends also have other DC's, the youngest is only 7.

What was his condition. These things are especially hard at this time of year.

sb6699 · 25/12/2007 01:59

He had Spinal Muscular Atrophy (type 2 i think).

Just a note to to thank you for taking time to post everyone I know you must be busy.

Soapbox I will spend a thought for your grandmother and all others who have passed away on Christmas morning.
