Concealing a suicide

My husband’s father had just taken his own life. The immediate family who live in close proximity to him want to conceal the event from all other family members and friends - even his siblings who live in other cities and countries.

Is this right? Is it even possible with how things work in the UK, eg post-mortem, inquest?

They’ve already started telling everyone he died due to a heart attack.

@RainAndGreyClouds (with apologies to the op for slight detour) that's interesting because I was told the opposite but I certainly found my own issues were severely impacted by it. I was told that family ending their lives stopped others from doing the same. I thought it was just me reacting wrongly and added more guilt. Thank you for this perspective it's given me something to think about.
