I want to donate to a charity instead of sending flowers to my uncle's funeral ... but I don't know how to do that ... silly question probably ....

My Uncle died on Saturday . He was 80 and was diagnosed with cancer in March. He had a good life and good innings and all that but still feel sad.
I can't get to the funeral and had a lovely long chat with my aunt today. She has decided that people must do what they want to do re. flowers or donations but she said if I did donate something she felt a Childrens Cancer Charity would be something my Uncle would be happy with.
Ok, so I know I can just send off a cheque to a charity but is there a way I can make it significant? ... to acknowledge him I meant ...
Would I ask for a card or certificate or something, can I have the donation made in his name?
I don't know how or what to do ...

Sorry for your loss, when my grandad died the funeral director sorted out charitable donations.

so sad for you
Why don't you just call the charity that you have chosen and ask them how it works.

sorry about your uncle.

yes you can ask the charity or the funeral director. the charity should acknoweldge that the donation is in memory of your uncle in a letter. if you want to do more you could ask about a tribute fund but this is more of a long-term thing that you would encourage other people to give to.
