Funeral poem for my dad

Hi, just a quick opinion needed on this.

I want to read a poem at my dad's funeral this week. Not clever enough myself to write one I've trawled through masses and come with one that's nearly right. Only thing I need to change a few words here and there - doesn't really change the meaning but instead of " sons" say "friends" and say "guests" instead of " traveller". The poet died in the 1930s so out of copyright but I just wondered if this was generally ok to do?

Perhaps I am being daft but just want to get it right! x

It's your dad's funeral, say whatever you want, I'm sure the poet wouldn't mind a few changed words.
Sorry for your loss.

Thank you. I suspected someone kind might say that! Jane x
