Raising awareness in memory off my little girl

In 2019 my life was turned upside down, Everyone tells us about the common dangers etc but how much do we actually no?

I'm a mum to 3 beautiful people but on a normal day in 2019 I'd put my two year old little girl for an afternoon nap to bed. When I'd gone up to get her my life came crashing down.

My beautiful little girl was caught on a blind cord 💔💔💔😭😭😭

I'm now 12 months past loosing her and nothing still makes sense. We was in a private rented house at the time the law for blinds had changed in 2014 but many people I still speak too to raise awareness are still unsure off the dangers off blind cords .

Please please check your blind cords are secured and under the new Regulations!! Please don't go through the heart break me and my family are going through.

Mummy's little angel Macy we love and miss you more then any words can describe. Shine bright baby girl untill we meet again 💔💕😭

One thing I did notice which I thought was good is that we were at a haven site in a caravan and all their blind cords were secured high out the reach of little ones.

I remember your campaign, I remember Macy's photo. She was beautiful. I signed your petition and fitted safety clips to all our blind cords.
Thank you for what you have done. I am so sorry Macy died.

Thank you BLKS7, I was totally unaware of the danger of blind cords. What you're doing may well save lives.

Quick google shows dressing gowns with cords are still very much available, for very small babies.

Ulvie · 13/02/2020 15:04

I mean 12-18 months up.

Blackbear19 · 14/02/2020 04:59

I'm surprised dressing gowns with dangerous are still available. The ones my DC have had have been like two half belts, stitched in at the sides, neither half being long enough to be dangerous, and made of material much wider than a cord.

In awe of your strength and courage OP

How lucky was Macy to have you as her mum.
I will share your campaign

MummyOfBoyAndGirl · 14/02/2020 05:29

I am so sorry you lost Macy.

You are incredibly strong! What a wonderful thing to do in her memory we replaced all blinds in the last few years so all are safe. However it's scary that some retailers still sell unsafe products!

ColdCottage · 14/02/2020 06:01

Thank you for sharing. I have just shared a poster on this to my FB following this post.

ColdCottage · 14/02/2020 06:02

I also meant to say I am so sorry for your loss. What you are doing is brave and helps others.

Perhaps approach This Morning about sharing your story. I think it would be very valuable.

Ulvie · 14/02/2020 15:34

@blackbear

If you buy them online they've often been imported. So you may not be able to buy them on the high street in the uk but can still buy them on amazon etc.
