Hello can anyone offer me any advise as to support at 18 yr old who has lost their mum in September. They are now dreaming about her. I don't know what to say or do but it breaks my heart

I think dreaming about someone you love and have lost is fairly normal. It's the subconscious processing the loss.

If they think of it as normal, it's maybe not so distressing.

Give them the odd hug? I used to think that if I didn’t last, people who knew me could sometimes mention to my daughter how much I loved her. So if it seems appropriate, remind her of that?

I lost my Mum when I was 16. The dreams were really constant in the first couple of years. My Mum died of cancer. I would dream over and over about her being diagnosed. Sometimes in the dream she would live. I'd wake up crying because it wasn't true. Sometimes she would die and I'd wake up crying feeling like I had lost her again. It was a really tough time, it felt like my subconscious hadn't worked out what had happened yet. I don't have any specific advice I'm afraid. I think it's important to grieve properly. And to keep talking about her Mum to keep her memory alive. I didn't do that. And just be there for her.
