How long did you bleed after ERPC?

Had one nearly three weeks ago and I still have brown slightly clotty/stringy discharge(Sorry if TMI). Red blood stopped after a week but this is just going on and on it seems. I had a D&C in Nov 06 and the bleeding was all over within five days. I ovulated two weeks after D&C and period 2 weeks later and then pg next cycle. I just feel this time things are different and it is worrying me that something is wrong.
How long did other people have bleeding or discharge for?

Hi Taichimum,

Am in the same boat as you worrying about bleeding. I had a D&C on 27 Feb 07 and was still bleeding and in pain 3 weeks later. Had been going for weekly scans at the EPU (due to passing huge clots), initially told all clear then after 3 weeks devastated to be told there was stll 'retained product' and needed a second D&C. Thought i was going to go to pieces (first D&C did not go well, I lost alot of blood and just avoided a transfusion). Had 2nd D&C 11 days ago now and still have discharge as you describe plus the same pain in my lower abdomen. I am so scared that something is wrong. All the worry means it is impossible to move on. I am going back to the GP today as i am in a panic and will let you know what she says.

Advice from anyone that bled for this long and everything turned out fine would be much appreciated!

Hello Taichimum, so sorry to hear about your loss.
I had an ERPC and bled afterwards, which I presumed was normal. I got a call from the hospital a week later telling me that they had discovered, like torres, 'retained pregnancy products'. I had to go in and have it all done again. After the 2nd ERPC, I had no bleeding.
I also hope someone comes along and offers you some reassurance but a visit to your GP might be a good idea.

I think i would go to docs to get checked out. I had d&c two weeks and bleeding stopped after four days. Feel fine now. Sorry that is probably not what you wanted to hear

definately check this out.i had e.r.p.c in december.bled for about 4 weeks, brown, stringy discharge until i passed my baby and a few days later the placenta.very traumatic for me as it was a 13wk pregnancy so an unpleasant sight especially when not expecting it-hospital hadn't bothered to let me know the e.r.p.c had been unsuccesful.

Ash6605- how awful, I'm so sorry to hear what you went through. I really feel for you.

Taichimum,

went back to GP who sent me back to the EPU for another scan, which I was told was all clear. They didn't really explain why I was still bleeding but told me to leave it a few more days to see how it went. They also took some swabs to check for infection. Although nothing has really changed, I certainly feel more positive having been checked out.

I agree with Ali5 and lovelylou, going to your GP is a good idea.

Thanks for all your advice. I am sorry to hear about your ghastly ERPC experiences.
I saw my gp the other day and forgot to mention it as I was too busy crying and getting signed off work. How annoying.
I think if it is still happening on Monday I will go back to her.
