DP's mum was visiting family in USA when she fell ill and has deteriorated rapidly he is currently rushing via a roundabout route to be with her. She is in a popular tourist destination and we are so lucky to have friends who actually arranged a place on a freighter for him last night as regular routes were full, even if he has to change several times to get there.
His Dad died several years ago suddenly and he still has regrets about that I just hope he gets there in time to say what he needs to say. He is a good son who inspite of a very busy job ( a lot of travelling and long hours) does a lot to help his mum so she knows he loves her. He just needs to tell her for his peace of mind.
For a variety of reasons it was not appropriate for me to travel with him and actually I am now in another European country, so most contact is via email and what's app.
