Marking the first anniversary of my baby's death

Just as the title says really, I know I want to mark the day in some way but I'm not sure how. I like the idea of having something DP and I can then do each year. Does anyone have any suggestions or things that they do to mark the anniversay for their loved ones?

The anniversary of his death is also his birthday as he died a few minutes after he was born because he was very premature.

I was thinking of planting something but would like to do more than just that.

I'm so very sorry to hear of your loss. My friend who lost a daughter at 2.5 years old did indeed plant a tree in her memory and this seemed to give her some comfort, watching it grow in the garden . I always light a candle for each of her birthdays. I hope you gets lots of RL support, the first year is incredibly tough..

sunny I am so sorry for your terrible loss. You will carry your baby with you always. All the "firsts" are somehow more raw than others.

Our first daughter was stillborn 9 years ago. We have a memorial stone at a crematorium so every year we go to lay flowers and then have a meal somewhere. We have another daughter now, so she brings something too (garden ornament type thing) and then we have a family day.

The first year is hardest, and I found 5 years hard as well, that felt like a milestone year somehow. Be gentle with yourself x

We have DS's ashes at home but I like the idea of going somewhere significant to DP and I and laying some flowers there in a similar way to the crematorium.
