Whatever your views on Julie, she has written very movingly on the loss of her son and I found this especially touching:

'My son has passed his pain on to me, and I am grateful for it. It is all I have left of him, so of course I will hold tight to it as we all trudge on, the living and the dead together forever, a socialism of souls'.

As a bereaved parent myself, I understand that sad trudging on with your dead.

And the last paragraph brought a tear to my eye. She's a great writer.
