How long did you bleed after your ERPC?

Sorry if TMI!

I had a missed miscarriage, discovered at 13 weeks+1; the baby had died at 12 weeks +3; I had an ERPC the day after finding out.

The bloody stuff stopped only yesterday, four weeks to the day after my ERPC. Nothing at all for the first five days after the EPRC, the started upa gain. Never very heavy (no more than one super towel every four hours), sometimes dark, sometimes light, tailed off in the last week to mere bloody discharge.

All the websites I've visited seem to suggest that a week of bleeding is the norm. I've just panicking that I picked up an infection, although there is no evidence for this. I think I actually bled for less time after having my second and third children.

So, how was the bleeding for you, and how far along were you?(I'm wondering if placenta size makes a difference).

Sorry about your loss

I bled 4 weeks after a D & C, and I had some retained products left, so had an ERPC, after which I bled about 10 days. Id get it checked out, you might have retained something. ((hugs)) xx

{{{hugs}}} sorry to hear about your loss

I agree with Quootiepie that you should check it out. I also bled for about 7-10 days after mine and that was just 5 days earlier than you. I've no idea if placenta size makes a difference but its better to be safe than sorry.

I would get it checked out. I bled for about 3 days, stopped for a couple, then bled for another couple. I was told by the hospital that if I was still bleeding after 3 days to get it checked out, but I thought that was a bit ridiculously OTT!!

I was just over 12 weeks, but baby had died at 8+3.

I bled for 10ish days with my first D&C, two weeks with my second. I was earlier on than you were (roughly 7 weeks each time, second time was a blighted ovum and I had not started bleeding naturally) but I do agree with the others that it would be sensible to have another scan, and probably hCG levels checked as well (if there are retained 'products' they do not return to >5) just to check it out.

I really feel for you - you just want it to be over and it goes on and on and on I do hope it will be over for you soon.

I suppose I forgot to say that I had been bleeding for about 7 weeks on and off before the m/c, and the (fateful) scan the day the EPRC before showed that there was a large clot in there again.

Obviously, the surgeon must have fished that out, or I'd really know about it, but I do wonder whether taking aspirin before the flight I went on five days later may have contributed to a fresh bleed/ clot, as the bleeding was pretty much identical to what had been happening before the m/c, when it was successive clots breaking down.

Hi Duchesse

I bled on and off for 8 weeks after my missed mc - I was 9.5 weeks. After 2 courses of antiobiotics just in case it was an infection (it obviously wasn't), they finally sent me for a rescan and there was retained products, for which I had a 2nd ERCP. I had no bleeding at all really after the 2nd operation.

HTH and hope you get it sorted soon!
