how far gone is she? ring out of hours GP... ((hugs))

lulumama · 28/10/2006 11:35

brown blood rather than bright red indicates old blood...

could it not be her periods are irregular?

Weatherwax · 28/10/2006 11:50

I'd agree with calling the GP. Lots of threads on MN talk about bleeding in pregnacy not being a miscarrage but haow far is she now?. Is this the reason for all the baths?

runkid · 28/10/2006 11:56

She has been having periods for four years she is definately pregnant doctor did the test not sure how far gone she is they couldnt here heart beat so im assuming not far gone. Bleeding seems to have stopped. She is due to see midwife next week

ok....i would take her to a&e if necc..they might be able to do another scan......if it has stopped and no pain, could be 'one of those things'

has she had a scan at all? wold not see a heart beat until around 7 weeks...and don;t tend to hear it on a sonicaid until 16 weeks or so.....

runkid · 28/10/2006 12:05

Not had a scan yet im ringing NHS direct to see what they have to say. I no i had some blood when i was pregnant with dd

OP posts:
lulumama · 28/10/2006 12:06

hope she is ok...must be worrying for both of you...x

QuootieSpookypie · 28/10/2006 12:06

hope all goes well - NHS direct tend to say go to a& e.

NotQuiteCockney · 28/10/2006 12:08

I wouldn't bother going to A+E - there isn't anything they can do. If your DD is miscarrying, she's miscarrying. A scan doesn't really make any difference, iyswim.

If she starts having pain, she should take paracetamol. I think codeine is ok, too.

NotQuiteCockney · 28/10/2006 12:08

The rule for when you need to go to A+E:

  • if there is massive pain (as this might mean ectopic pregnancy, which could endanger your DD's life)
  • if she is bleeding through more than one massive pad per hour.
QuootieSpookypie · 28/10/2006 12:09

NQC - it might be something else? Placenta problems etc that they can treat? No sure, as my PG went smooth...

NotQuiteCockney · 28/10/2006 12:15

No, really really not. I've had two miscarriages, trust me. If something is going wrong this early, it's going wrong, and that's it.

They can help you at 20 weeks or something maybe, but in the early weeks of pregnancy, there is nothing they can do. I've spent time miscarrying at home, and I've spent time miscarrying in a hospital, and it's nicer to do it at home. Unless you are hemorrhaging, or showing signs of an ectopic pregnancy it is really not worth going in, as there is nothing they can do, and nothing they will do.

First time, I was 9 or 10 weeks, and just showing the first signs of m/c. Still. Nothing they can do. And they wouldn't scan me, either, they just told me to make a scan appointment on Monday. Miscarrying is unpleasant enough without having to deal with hospital staff.

runkid · 28/10/2006 12:15

Thanks for your responces much appreciated i will keep a close eye on things if nothing else this has given dd wake up call she was very upset.

Thinking of you and your DD, runkid.

QuootieSpookypie · 28/10/2006 12:17

runkid - I had brown spotting in pregnancy, and it was all fine. Just old blood. Hope all goes well xxxx

NotQuiteCockney · 28/10/2006 12:19

Thanks Qootiepie.

SherlockLGJ · 28/10/2006 12:21

Agree with NQC, once I knew I was definitely MC/ing I settled in for the evening with a glass of wine and some good company.

madmarchscare · 28/10/2006 12:25

I have read your other thread. I really hope your DD is OK. How is she feeling?

BATtymumma · 28/10/2006 12:26

Im hoping that everything is ok and this is justa a very scarey wake up call.

let us know howm she gets on.

runkid · 28/10/2006 12:31

Madmarch she is a little more settled now doesnt seem so upset hopefully it was just old blood i dont think dd could stand to lose this baby it would emotionally destroy her

Greensleeves · 28/10/2006 12:33

I had early bleeding between 6-8 weeks with both my babies. I was very worried but they were both fine.
