sunchowder · 19/09/2006 20:41

pinkranger · 19/09/2006 20:46

It's my birthday tomorrow so i will no doubt have a few(!) candles on my cake (for the children's sake rather than mine). Will think of my father, my miscarried baby, my best friend and all of you on here.

Christina Rosetti wrote some great poems for such occasions.

Can I also add Slinkstah and Welshboris to this list - have read about their losses recently

GreensleevesTheParrot · 19/09/2006 20:59

I must just say again how amazed and touched I am that you started this thread, YG. I am frequently humbled on MN lately, by the strength and kindness of people who are going through times I can't even imagine.

Coolmama · 19/09/2006 21:08

This was so needed for me - thank you.

Yorkiegirl, I hope that all the love you have lit for others comes back to you to cradle you gently in the stillness of the night when you need it's healing most.

LieselVonTrapp · 19/09/2006 21:10

Hi! I'm dreading work tomorrow. I've said I will be in, but have asked to be just on admin, no cover unless I change my mind. But I'm not looking forward to facing everyone's pity and condolences. I feel like skiving morning briefing, so that I don't have to cope with everyone at once.

Gingerbear · 19/09/2006 21:58

What a wonderful thing to do. I am full of joy for myself right now, but can never forget those who have lost someone precious and the sadness they bear.
Almost 20 years ago my grandad died, on the same day I visited my cousin in hospital who had had her baby at the same time my grandad died.

Gingerbear · 19/09/2006 21:59

roisin, sending you strength to cope tomorrow xx

katzg · 20/09/2006 10:22

have lit one i found this poem recently online thought i'd share it:

I asked God for water,
He gave me! an ocean.

I asked God for a flower,
He gave me a garden.

I asked God for a friend,
He gave me all of YOU...

If God brings you to it, He will bring you through
it.

Happy moments, praise God.

Difficult moments, seek God.

Quiet moments, worship God.

Painful moments, trust God.

Every moment, thank God.

theres also a lovely story to go with it here

My little nephew who died the day before he was born will be laid to rest on Tuesday. A candle burns in many, many hearts for him. The pain is still very intense. My darling, beautiful sister and her dear husband are in the greatest of pain but your kind words ad thoughts DO make a difference. Thank you.

izzybiz · 23/09/2006 09:08
