m/cing at 7 weeks and hosp won't see me until Fri - normal?

I'm about 7 wks with second baby and have been bleeding since sat with cramps and some clots.
I went to the doctors today (very sympathetic locum GP) who tried to book me into the EPU but they said they can't see me until Friday as they are too busy! Is this right?
Can't believe I have to sit here bleeding until then without knowing what is going on. Although I guess it doesn't look good at this stage.
Am so upset.

No it doesn't seem right and that is appalling treatment of you. I know they are busy but the pregnancy would be seen through a scan and so it would be nice if they offered you some piece of mind even if it is (bless you) bad news. I would be tempted to just turn up down there which is what I have done before.

Would you consider A&E surely they will take a look at you then? You will probably need to wait too, but not until Friday.

So sorry webwoman you must be so scared! I agree with horseshoe if i were you i would get yourself down there and insist they scan you and try to find out whats going on! For whatever its worth my sister had alot of bleeding and cramps with her second pregnancy and had a scan beleiving she had lost her baby to find that she hadnt and her baby was fine, he is 3 now, they discovered she had a low lying placenta which was causing problems as it was so close to the 'exit'. I really really hope this is the case for you too, get yourself down there and demand they see you!

Thanks - it does seem strange to me....what's the point of an EPU if they can't see anyone in early pregnancy!
Most of my pregnancy symptoms have also gone now so I'm pretty sure I've lost the baby but thanks for your kind words.
I think I will give the unit a call and see what they say - hopefully they might not be able to refuse a weeping woman as easily as a routine GP call.

Really sorry this is happening to you. When I started bleeing in my first pregnancy I waited nearly 3 weeks before they sent me for a scan. I was constantly reassured that some bleeding could happen and they took a wait and see approach. In the end though I did have a scan and it was bad news.

The second time I had to wait over Easter - so about 5 days, but they were quicker because of what happened the first time. This time though ds's heartbeat was there going strong - I was really shocked as I was convinced myslf I had lost the baby. I had an empty sac though so it was possible I had twins but one miscarried really early.

The waiting is just awful but in the end at this early stage we are just not a priority as if the worst has happened there is nothing they can do about it. It sucks though.

sorry this is happening - I went through this about 3 weeks ago. I went to the doctors on weds and they saw me friday but actually my GP had said they wouldn't see me for a week but thankfully I didn't have to wait that long.

As someone else said - if they refuse to see you, go to A&E and then they won't refuse particularly if you are in pain.

I am so sorry you are going thoright this , i have been through a M/c last week, My local epu could see me for over a week so i came back from doctors and found anothre one that wasnt to far away and refered myself ,was seen 48 hours later . xx Good Luck xx
