This is so sad and I can't stop crying about it........

This is very sad and although I do not know the woman on a close friend basis, we chatted at our toddler group and everyone knew her as a lovely person.
She was expecting triplets and lost a triplet. Then delivered her twins by c section with no probs. 2 days later she collapsed and died on the ward leaving 2 sons and her new born twins. I am totally wrenched by this and have cried so much, I wasn't even a friend, just someone you know and speak to. I work on the ward and have seen how it has affected everyone. Then I bought a paper and saw that it was the girl from the toddler group. I cannot believe she was there one minute and the next - gone. It must be rare.... to loose a Mother, has anyone else had a Mum die and leave the babies????

so sad for you quacks - completely devastating

DH's friend lost his sister in a similar way a couple of years ago. It was such a shock as we just don't expect it anymore.
Feel so much for her family - and all her friends.

Oh Tommy that's very sad. It;s just the worst thing isn't it. I don;t know why I myself have been so upset about it. It;s real life at the extreme. Hit a nerve with me maybe. I saw her last week and thought 'oh she must be about due now;, then the other day she wasn;t there and I thought, 'oh she must be having them'. The outcome was tragic.

This happened to a work colleague of mine. She was expecting triplets (this was a year or so after I'd taken voluntary redundancy) and dies following c-section comllications leaving the newborn triplets. Even though I was no longer in touch with her and wasn't close it was just horrible to think about.

a lad from my dh husbands work lost his wife to menigitis. she was 7 months pregant, they saved the child but she died leaving another child as well.

There was a memorial to her yesterday. Her post mortum has just been done but don;t know the outcome yet. We are a small community and everyone know about it and feels v v bad. What's sad is that you all seem to know someone who has had this happen.

At the hospital where I had dd, quacks, one of the Bereavement Midwife's roles was to provide support to staff affected by a death on the ward. It must be so incredibly hard for health professionals working in area that focuses on new life and new beginnings to deal with the deaths and sorrow that also arise.
I can remember being utterly harrowed by Laura Touche's death at the Portland a couple of days after having her twins by c-section.
I hope that the post mortem results confirm that negligence was in no way an issue because I can imagine that could also be ghastly to deal with.

Hi Marina, would you believe the lady was a lawyer for clinical negligence! I was there 2 days after the evnt and saw no sign of bereavement counselling, it's almost as if it's accepted as part of the job from what I saw. Obviously there was a lot of upset at the time but they seem to be able to move on. I really was upset and wasn;t even there at the time!
