just got a letter home to say that aboy at dd's school has died. she goes to a special school and this isn't the first little person who has died. a couple of years ago her friend died.
she knew this boy so I have told her about it. just said that he had gone to be with X
feel the need to do something. do you think it would be odd for me to send the parents a card.
from dd and her family.

One of our pupils was killed by a hit and run recently and we asked the children how they would like to remember him. Several of them want to plat a tree and put a memories book near it for the other children to sign. I'm on maternity leave but the shock of the news left me upset and depressed as I remembered him so well. I know that a memorial service has been planned and to get back to your original post, I think a card is a small but heartfelt token.
