What on earth can I do or say to him/them?

a while ago I put that I had just taken my children to say goodbye to their nanna as she had had 2 major heart attacks and wasn't expected to last the day. Well, she became well enough to be let home etc, she has not been well, but at least she hadn't died.

DH has just been called out of work to go to the hospital (she was rushed in sat night) she is deteriorating fast.

How do I cope with dh and dd1 (dd2 is only 4 so still not really understanding}, i've never gone through this before, but really struggling.

Oh Radley, I am sorry this has happened. In the past when faced with bereavement, I've just been honest with my dd. I've told her that Nana is very ill and the doctors can't make her better. That soon she will go to heaven (not sure what your beliefs are). That we will all be very sad for a time and that it's ok to be sad but that Nana will not be hurting anymore, and that is something good.

As for dh, different people cope with grief in diferent ways. Just make sure he know that you are there for him. I hope you are able to find some peace too. Hugs xxxxx

I think Cadbury's advice is good. It is very hard but it is important to know that (unfortunately) you don't have a magic wand so there is not a lot you can do other than be there for dh and your dds. I wish you well during this difficult time and remember you can always come and talk to us lot, as lots of us have been through this xx
