Well - I have been a bit quiet over the last few days as I haven't been feeling 100%. Last night I had such bad pains in my right ovarian area I couldn't sleep so rang hospital this morning to see what I should do especially as pain coincided with end to very heavy flow of blood. They said to come in for a scan to rule out an ectopic pregnancy.
Dropped boys at nursery, toddled into hospital and saw doctor. She went through my history, did an internal which pointed to a very tender ovary, and tested my urine sample. Surprise, surprise it came back strongly positive. I was absolutely gobsmacked as even though I know the hormone hangs around for a while, I was only just two/three days over due when the bleeding started. And last test I had was only very, very faintly positive and I had a reading of 7 hcg on blood sample which was almost non-existant. The doctor asked me if I had had sex since last week - as if!!!! And sent me for scan. The scan was fine and pain eased considerably which they think was due to the prodding assisting a suspect cyst to rupture. A tiny part of me so wanted to still be pregnant that I really hoped that something would be there but obviously after 8 days of bleeding, there was nothing. I was so gutted.
Anyway one blood test was carried out today which had a reading of 50 hcg (still very small but explains why I have felt so out of sorts) and I have to go back on Saturday for another blood test to see if the level is dropping. Then it's a wait for the results on Monday.
I know I cannot be pregnant but this is so unsettling. I don't know why the hormones seem to have increased unless the initial results have been written down incorrectly. I guess it is a case of wait and see.
On a positive, I have my miscarriage appointment on Monday but the bloods won't be back in time for the consultation but that is another issue.
Sorry for the moan and if anybody can't shed any light on this, just keep your fingers crossed for me that everything will soon get back to normal.
