Rest of m/c five weeks on?

Apologies for yucky details My m/c (at 11.5 weeks) was 5, almost 6 weeks ago. I didn't have a D&C. Four weeks later I was still getting a grey/brown discharge and went back to the doctor, who took a swab and prescribed antibiotics. Swab came back negative. The last few days I've had a very bloated stomach and discomfort similar to being constipated (which I'm not), still with discharge. Today I've started bleeding like a heavy period and passed some big clots / tissue. Is this the end of my m/c? Has anyone else experienced this? Typically, it's my busiest time at work and I'm in the office this weekend. Will there ever be an end to all this?

Thanks for you reply. I haven't been offered a scan since the one immediately after the m/c - to be honest, I've found the GPs to be pretty useless. I hope it is just a period, then - I was a little unsettled by the clots.

Azure
I had a v ery similar story after my MC. I did have a D&C and the clotting continued. In the end, after 6 weeks, I asked the hospital for a trans-vaginal scan just to make absolutely sure. And the day I went in for the scan the bleeding stopped of its own accord.

With my 2nd DS, now 12 weeks, I had lots of clotting. He was born by emergency c section (as was my first). Same story, clotting, bleeding and antibiotics then it stopped. I think some women just have a naturally uterus that responds to truama with a lot of clotting. It is very distressing but that is just the way we are made.

I understand you are busy at work but do take every opportunity you get to put your feet up, literally, and chill out and you'll be ready to conceive again in three months

Good luck

yes I agree. you must seek medical advice (sounds horrid but if you pass a really big one, put it in a plastic bag and show the doc). My prevoius post was meant to reassure you that some women just clot a lot with no longterm harm.

Azure, I had a similar problem after the first m/c. I bled for 2 weeks, stopped, bled again a week later and couldn't stop, clots and everything. I had several scans and there were still minute fragments of placenta/products that would detactch after time apparantly and cause this fresh bleeding. It is only now that I know this happens a lot as many people have this ongoing bleeding. I found this website - it;s fab. It tells it like it REALLY is after m/c, HTH

Azure, my first period after m/c a few years ago (9 wks) was extremely heavy and I thought the same as you. I would def have a scan though to assure yourself that everyting is ok. Hope you can get some rest on what sound like a busy time for you.

hope to see you on ttc soon as well...

I do sympathise. My mc was 7 wks ago and I have just had the relief of my first period. Mine wasnt heavy but I did pass loads of clots a few days after my m/c and d&c. It was very gory and bloody, I too thought it would never end. But it settled after one day. Look after yourself. Bx
