Is it safe to exersize soon after a D&C?

Hello everyone, i had a D&C 10 days ago after my miscarriage. I went back to the gym four days after as i was just spotting, then two days later i started to bleed a little heavily followed by some blood clots (sorry)and a few cramps. Im still spotting but its calmed down alot and no blood clots.
I was just wondering if any of you ladies out there can tell me if this is normal? maybe i went back to the gym too quickely? do you think it was too soon to get back into exersize after the D&C?
Im also a bit worried i've got an infection.
If anyone can help me i would really appreciate it. Hope everyones well today.

Hello, Juicypips, sorry to hear about your miscarriage. I had two d&cs after two miscarriages and, as far as I can remember, went back to they gym within a week - did ask doctor's advice. If you're at all concerned I'd ask your gp, particularly if you think you've got an infection. Hope it all clears up and good luck for the future.

I've repeated myself, sorry! Do you think it would be okay for me to do some exersize now, as everything has calmed down? so need to get back to normal!

I would, but if you're worried then I'd see the doctor first. I'm rather obsessive about exercising and tend to rush back so may not be giving the best advice.

Hello Sykes, im so sorry to for you too. I know what you mean about the exersize im exactly the same, i had not been for six weeks during the first weeks of my pregnancy (i was 10 weeks) due to spotting and being told to take it easy, so am just dying to get everything back to normal especially my body! Hope things are getting back to normal for you, Sykes. Thankyou for your advice it has helped. Might give my GP a call anyway, just to check i havent got an infection.

Thanks, my miscarriages were quite a few years ago and am now the VERY proud mother of two girls - four and two. Good luck.

Juicypips. I had a very similar experience last month. I got so depressed lying in bed after my m/c and d&c, I took ds out for a long walk along the coast (3 days after my d&c). That afternoon I had cramping and passed lots of clots, painfully. The clots were big and had whitish bits in (sorry). Dh rang my gp who sent me to the hospital and they decided to keep me in overnight. The doctor was concerned that there might be an infection (there wasnt) or some remaining products of conception still inside. By next morning the bleeding had settled and it has been fine since.

My mother and dh both scolded me for going on a long hike and blamed my bleeding on that but as there waS still something inside me it would have to come out at some time anyway. Maybe the exercise helped shift it and therefore helped me avoid a second d&c.

Hope you are ok.

Hello bunny2, im sorry for what happened to you. Worrying isnt it, when the bleeding becomes that heavy. I just got paranoid i had an infection or having to go back for another d&c. I spoke to my gp earlier and she said not to worry and was more than likely to have been due to the exercise. She also asked if i had a temperature or generally felt unwell, as then she'd suspect an infection, and i felt none of those symptoms. So go's to show thats probably what happened to us.
By the way bunny2, my Dh also had a few words with me! One more thing, how are you feelling in yourself now? Do you feel almost back to normal after the m/c? My boobs are still very swollen as if when i was pregnant, mind you it was only 10 days ago since my d&c. Thankyou so much for the advice bunny2.

Juicypips, glad to hear you are feeling a bit better. Physically I am ok, I finally stopped bleeding (it had been very light but on-going) and I am back to normal apart from a few extra pounds - I eat my way through early pregnancy to keep nausea at bay so I gain very quickly. I am still sad, it was my second mc so I am reluctant to get pg again right now although if I could be guaranteed a healthy pregnancy this time I'd love to be pregnant again. I'm extremely randy at the moment must be the hormones getting going again!

Take care and keep in touch

Im sorry to hear it was your second m/c, bunny2.
Going through this for the first time has been so hard i cant begin to imagine going through it again. Dh and me got married in the summer and couldnt wait to start trying for a family, then when i got pregnant after a month i was so shocked it had happened so quickely and just counted us both really, really lucky.
Then at 10 wks i m/c. So devestating. At the end of the day bunny2, we have our health and can start trying as soon as we feel ready to with fingers double crossed for all of us here. I agree with the hormones nice to have my sex drive at a healthy level again! See our bodies are trying to tell us something!! Lots of love and luckxxx
