Our friend has died

I'm reasonably ok, just wanted to tell someone. Our friend died yesterday, he was only about 60. Diagnosed a few months ago with lung cancer.

He was such a lovely man, a bit of a rogue, was like an eccentric extra grandad to the children, always telling them all kinds of tall tales - like "Remember when we took you to the circus and you rode on the elephant DD?" (she has never been to a circus!) I will miss him.

Aw, i'm sorry to hear that. It sounds like he meant a lot to you and your family.

Condoleces.

Thank you, he did.

It sounds stupid, it is such a long time since I lost someone I had forgotten what it is like. About 15 yrs ago I lost my mum, a grandad, a grandma and an uncle all within 12 months. It was hellish, esp as one of them (my mum) was a suicide.

And I am a bit worried for DH, he was more his friend first, IYKWIM and except for a grandad and a much loved dog, he has been lucky enough not to have much experience of losing people. Not sure if that makes sense exactly.
