Hello

The Mumsnet team have given me permission to let you know about this year's Babyloss Awareness Week.

Some of you may have visited the Babyloss website (www.babyloss.com) already - it's a UK resource where you can find support and information regarding pregnancy loss, stillbirth or neonatal death.

This year's national Awareness Week is being held from the 11th to the 17th of October.

Following our successful Awareness Day in 2002, we've once again teamed up with the following four organisations:
ARC (Antenatal Results and Choices)
The Ectopic Pregnancy Trust
SANDS (Stillbirth and Neonatal Death Society)
and The Miscarriage Association.

We are asking people to make a small donation in exchange for a blue and pink ribbon pin (available via www.babyloss.com and all made by hand by a network of bereaved parents). Profits will be split between the organisations detailed above, and the Babyloss fund (which supports smaller projects, such as bereavement suites or local memorials).

Several memorial services will take place across the UK, and our central event will be held at the American Church in London on October 15th. We hope that as many bereaved parents as possible will be able to join us in the international Wave of Light - lighting a candle at 7pm, any location, in memory of babies lost during pregnancy, at birth or in the first few weeks
of life.

Please visit the events section of the website to buy a ribbon pin online and to find out the latest Awareness Week news, and how you can get involved.

I hope that this information is useful to Mumsnet members and hope that I haven't caused any upset by posting here.

Thank you to Carrie, Justine and Rachel for allowing me to let you all know about Awareness Week - if you have any queries, please get in touch with me via [email protected].

Best wishes to everyone

Count on my support too. I don't think you'll cause upset at all by approaching us in this way. Good luck with your fund raising efforts!!!

Charlotte, thanks for all you are doing to highlight the reality of losing a baby. I hope the Awareness Week goes well - my hospital has timed one of its regular memorial services for bereaved parents to coincide with the end of the week.

Marina, thank you for your kind message. I'm really pleased that your local hospital is supporting Awareness Week.

If you can send me the details of the service (e.g. when and where), I'll put them on the babyloss events page. You can contact me at [email protected]

many thanks

Charlotte

Does anybody know if there is a service or anything happening in the west midlands area. all I can find is a service in london to far for me. Would love to go to a service or any kind of gathering. So I can take time to remember my little angels and all the other babies around the world.

The baby loss website won't confirm or accept my payment but doesn't give me a reason. I haven't recieved conformation so I am hoping it hasn't just gone through without telling me - I think I ended u having about 4 or 5 goes!

Has anyone else had any problems doing this? If so, did you solve it? Thanks for any help.

Yes I've had the same problem!! Pressed the button a good 3 or 4 times, most probs been charged. I really don't think it';s gone through, as there was no note to confirm, it says template failed. Must try and contact them!!!

I emailed regarding the layment problem and got this reply:

I'm really sorry that you've experienced problems with your ribbon pin purchase.

You can request a pin by post by sending an SAE with your donation to:

Babyloss Ribbon Pins
3 Eskview Avenue
Musselburgh
Midlothian
EH21 6NR

It's much safer to send a cheque or postal order
through the post, not cash - please make payable to Babyloss.

(Alternatively, you can save a couple of days by
emailing me your address, I'll post you the ribbon
pin(s) with an SAE for your payment?)

Have you made a payment through PayPal before, i.e. are you a registered user? If you can let me know, this will help me to work out what went wrong with your transaction, and whether it's been caused by the confusing registration process!

Thanks so much for letting me know of the problem, and please accept my heartfelt apologies for the inconvenience.

I look forward to hearing from you.

I have asked for mine to be sent to me so I can donate using their SAE on receipt of it.

Hope this helps anyone else having problems.

Didn't have a candle to light but want to add my thoughts to all angels lost before, during and after childbirth. Specially thoughts for my own lost baby, 2 years ago @ 7 weeks.
