4yr old sudden change: all smiles to lots of tears at nursery.

DS is 4 and has been very happy going to nursery for the last 18 months. He's just suddenly started to sob and become clingy (he did this before when he was terribly unsettled at a previous nursery when he was about approx 18 months old). He is also very clingy to me again. I can work out what is going on. Is this normal? Should I speak to the staff to find out if something has happened to unsettle him?

Hi. Yes, definitely speak to Nursery Staff, since this is such a change in his behaviour. Also, have a gentle chat with him-have you fallen-out with your friend/s, has someone hurt you, has someone shouted at you?
Ask the staff how he is once you leave. Has there been a change in staff/manager?
Ask the Nursery to start a daily communication diary about what activities hes doing, who hes playing with etc.
Maybe its just a phase, but I wouldnt be happy to leave my ds so upset each day.
Has anything changed at home recently, or have you been away/worked more than normal-perhaps that has unsettled him.
Whatever you do, please speak to the staff.
