DD 2 is 2.6. No bottles, no dummy, milk at breakfast and bed time.

Potty trained since 23 months, still wears nappy at night but it has only been wet once in the last month.

Recently given up lunch time nap though still sometimes drops off in the car and then is a nightmare at bedtime.

Moved from cot toddler bed about a week ago - day 3 got out of bed after being put in and shut her fingers in hinge side of bedroom door...

If no nap sleeps from 730 - 645ish though it is creeping earlier as the days get lighter.

Quite a few strops and asserting of will but rarely full on real tantrums. Quite a bit of hitting of her older sister (5).

Thanks so much, this is making really great reading.

At 2.6 DD was:

sleeping in a bed (but had only just moved into one)

sleeping 7.30 - 7.30ish without waking up unless ill. Still had a nap but not every day.

No milk (she doesn't like it)

No bottles / dummies (has never had)

Potty trained since 2.2 by now completely dry all the time

Having lots of tantrums. Knows her own mind completely. Wanting to do EVERYTHING on her own (no help allowed). Constantly insisting that she is now a BIG GIRL Still like this now at 2.10. Sigh.

domesticslattern · 06/05/2010 21:15

2.6 DD

Drains a large bottle of milk morning and evening. Dentist says no problem with bottles as she doesn't sip for a long time or go to bed with one. I suppose I should wean her off them but can't be arsed frankly. Eats well, even though she drinks the milk before meals. Also drinks from an open cup in the day.

No dummy. (Never did). But comfort toy very important, and also sucks her thumb.

In cot in a grobag. Has never tried to climb out. Has a little bed but not keen on it- has never slept in it.

Sleeps after lunch usually 30 mins to 1.5 hours depending how lucky we are, though sometimes skips a nap entirely if interesting things going on. Only sleeps in buggy (though it can be parked up).

Toilet trained in the day. Not as painful as I expected- bribery of chocolate buttons and stickers worked very well. Often a dry nappy in the morning too, so we should probably move to pants at night too but again I can't face it as she sleeps well at night at the moment and I don't want to jinx it! Never liked a potty, only goes on toilet (with trainer seat).

Goes down alone in our bed some time between 1900 and 2000, transported asleep to her cot at 2300 and then usually manages till 0630 or 0730. Sometimes wakes up with nightmares and if so always comes in with us (because she will lie still and understand it is time to go to sleep again).

Loves books and make believe. Talks constantly. Incessant.

But... many many tantrums. Went to HV to ask about them and was assured completely normal to tantrum six times a day. Sometimes they last as long as 40 mins of kicking, screaming and frothing at the mouth. Worse when tired after long day at nursery. (and when I am tired from work!)

SandyChick · 06/05/2010 21:56

Ds is 2.9

No bottle since around 8 months old. Drinks from open cup.

Had a dummy until he was 3 months old.

Went into a toddler bed around 2 years old because i pulled the side off cot just to see how it worked and couldnt get it back on!!!

Sleeps from 7pm -7.30/8am. Used to nap for 2 hours after lunch but dropped this suddenly last summer so no nap now unless he falls asleep in car.

Has been potty trained from around 19 months old. Still in nappies at bed time.

Good eater - Loves his fruit and veg, has a wide varied diet. Feeds himself.

His speech is slow. Lots of words and puts together 5 word sentences but is a bit lazy and stubborn. He's catching up fast tho since starting pre school.

Can pretty much dress and undress himself but struggles getting arms out of tops.

I've noticed a massive difference in him since starting pre school. He has grown up all of a sudden. Doesnt want me to do things for him and will happily run off and play at park/soft play without me being by his side.

2.7 DS

never had bottle or dummy

never slept in a cot - in his own bed and ours!

Sleeps about 9 hours, generally not at all in day now

Not toilet trained yet

Poor speech (no two words at all) but very very with it

Very independant, very loving and very very easy and good boy Does as he's told mostly first time

Currently interested in using PC - mouse skills scarily good

SarfEasticated · 06/05/2010 22:36

2 yrs 9 months, still has bottles of semiskimmed during the night (oops) and a dummy for afternoon hour long nap (must address this!).
still wakes up twice a night - once to find dummy once for milk - driving me NUTS now...

Potty trained during the day,
good eater, eats nice balance of veg and meat and no real sweet tooth.
really enjoying nursery now, but can be clingy every now and then (which i enjoy!).
favourite past time is reading books, reading to herself mainly.

Is great fun, but getting pretty feisty now, questioning everything, refusing to do lots - must keep my cool!

SarfEasticated · 06/05/2010 22:37

sorry sleeps from 8pm - 5.30am but may come in with us and go back to sleep for another hour or so.

maxybrown · 06/05/2010 22:41

Meant to add to mine

very poor eater has two cups of full fat milk a day - more if he wants it

thisisyesterday · 06/05/2010 22:48

bottles- yes, but this is becahse he can't have dairy and he drinks more oat milk in a bottle than he will in a cup and i am really anxious about his calcium intake!

dummy- yes, but winding down now. only nap time and bed

sleep- just dropping daytime nap. has it maybe 2 days out of 7

sleeps about 12 hours at night

not potty trained

is a wild little demon who trashes my house and runs away

PrammyMammy · 06/05/2010 23:03

DS is 2.5.

No bottle or dummy. Drinks from a cup.
He sleeps in his bedroom, in a toddler bed. Goes to bed at around 7.30/8pm, sleeps until around 9/9.30am.
He has cows milk in his cerial and a glass at night.
He has been potty trained for around 4 weeks.

Now for the behaviour. . .

He is a very affectionate boy, very open with his feelings. Loves cuddles and dancing. BUT has a destructive side to him at the moment. He scribbles over anything, he smashes things up, takes toys apart, bites his baby sister.

PrammyMammy · 06/05/2010 23:04

2.4 even

maxybrown · 06/05/2010 23:04

cor I realise I am having a very easy life - scared what might come now lol!!

carrotsandpeasifyouplease · 06/05/2010 23:04

2.3

  • no bottles, only dropped the night one a couple of months ago but he would have still drunk a bit of it - the removal unsettled him for a week but he didnt know why iyswim

  • has been properly toilet trained in the day for about three weeks.

  • wants to do everything, tonight it was cheese on toast, it took about 45 minutes to achieve this. He is very OCD about things i hope this is just toddlerhood.

*good vocabulary, initially shy then very boistorous within 5 minutes of meeting new people.

*in cot, see no reason to change & never would settle in our bed (even though I wouldnt have minded, he just always thought it was time to play.)

*seems to be on a monthly schedule of ever increasing naughtiness that reaches a crescendo then goes back to normal again.

  • has 1hr 20 mins at 2pm, goes to bed at 7 ish wakes at 6:45 usually.

  • is very smiley and extremely cute

lou031205 · 06/05/2010 23:12

DD2 is 2.9 (almost)

Bottles - never would use one. Uses a cup with lid & straw, can use a cup without lid.

dummy - never had one, but sucks her wrist for comfort

where do they sleep - sleeps in a bed. Wakes around 05.30 (yuck) and goes to bed around 7pm. No official naps, but occasionally falls asleep on the sofa in the afternoon.

milk - has milk in cereal. Not keen to drink milk, prefers weak squash. We make sure she has lots of yoghurt/cheese.

potty trained - Very consistent with wees now (potty training started in earnest two weeks ago) but poos still hit and miss. Sometimes poos in knickers.

behaviour - very docile and placid if on her own. Absolutely raucous if with other children. Today at a toddler group, she and her cousin (3 this month) emptied soil from a plant pot. We cleaned it up. They then did it from another plant pot (they both got 'time out' for that). They then sat on the naughty bench and blew raspberries at each other. then they up ended some cards. Terrible. But all very 'boundary pushing'. Not malicious in any way.

Shodan · 06/05/2010 23:23

DS2 (2.6)

Still has bottle of cows milk at night (must deal with that), in the morning and any other time he can get his paws on one (he loves his milk). Other drinks from an open cup. No dummy, never had one, but has a comfort toy.

Still in a grobag in his cot, sleeps from about half seven to half six/ seven, usually has a nap of about 2-3 hours after lunch although am noticing signs of him trying to drop it.

Very lively, chatty and energetic. Can be a bit bossy. Knows all letters, can count to 12 confidently, knows colours. Speech now developing rapidly but didn't say many recognisable words much before he was 2.

Not potty trained yet although is increasingly fetching clean nappies and telling me he's 'stinky'.

Eats a fair variety of stuff, is a fruit fiend, will feed himself and is learning to manage a knife (baby cutlery though!)

And currently a total Thomas the Tank Engine addict......

Downdog · 07/05/2010 16:16

DD 2.5

sleeps in bed - gets into ours every morning about 4/5am.

BF, never had bottle except a couple of times she wanted to play at being a baby.

Naps most days 1-2.5 hours. Napped 4 hours a couple of weekend ago! Can go without nap but the end of the day tends to get a bit hairy.

No dummy, no thumb sucking, no security blanket (never had any of these) but she is obsessed with my boobs.

Can count to 20+, colours were nailed about 1.6 or maybe even earlier (including yellow, purple etc).

Can use touch pad etc on laptop to play Dora pc game

LOVES BOOKS.

Has a cup of goat milk before bed & milk with cereal. Sometimes has 'pink milk' a la Lola as a treat.

Very friendly, very vocal, loves to RUN, jump, climb etc.

Gets stroppy - as soon as we started to time her out occasionally, she started to time herself out if she gets het up.

Can complete a 24 piece puzzle with some help.

HATES having her hair brushed (very curly I don't blame her)

Never said 'yuk' said disgusting - thanks Peppa pig.

Her memory is amazing - I use her as a shopping list as mine is dreadful
