DS has a fear of the nursery toilets

DS aged 3 won't use the toilets or potty at nursery, sometimes he just holds his wee for the 5 hours but most days has an accident.

This has been going on for 3-4 months. We haven't been too stressed as we feel he is still young and maybe just gets too busy and forgets to go.

Nursery are very good about it and have tried stickers etc, I've tried taking him in there but he refuses to go.

Now today, out of the blue he said 'Nursery toilets are scary'. He then said something about hearing his best friend crying in the toilets once.

So I think this may be the cause of the problem... I can't think how to help him though?

Once he is anxious about something it turns into a big deal... became anxious about food at 18 months and now at 3 has a very limited diet (peanut butter, bread, crackers, yoghurts, apples - that's it!!) He is very stubborn and won't be won round with this.

I hope the op doesn't mind me copying but I think a social story may work.

That sounds like a very good idea. I will make one. Thank you!
