Tourettes syndrome...how to get the referral or diagnosis?

My ds has severe ADHD and I think he may have touettes syndrome...should I see my GP?
Any advice would be appreciated?

Yes, ask for a referral through to a paediatric specialist. GP may be faster.

Alternatively, ask school to refer your ds to the school paediatrician (there is one for each locality) for a referral on.

Tourettes is one of a cluster of conditions co-existing with ADHD. It can also be exhibited due to taking ritalin, according to an ADHD specialist I heard speaking this week.

i would ahve thought camhs,
children and adolescent mental health service, particularly for adhd and i am qutie sure for tourettes.

I think camhs will give support for families. I mentioned paed in my previous post as this is the route through to diagnosis in our county.

Can you speak to the school nurse to get some support/clarification? School should be able to provide you with the phone number.

yes, my ds has been under a paediatrician specialist, he takes a slow release tablet daily and also has a school councellor, he was referred to the councellor because he self harmed, the school are aware of this

All the best - ring the consultant's secretary and see if you can get an appointment soon. It might also be helpful to talk to the school senco to make sure that teaching staff are aware of strategies to best support your son.
