DH will only book my chosen summer hold if DD2 will be able to sit unaided by the time we are due to go (don't ask...). She is 5.5 months now and not at all physical. She will be 8.5 months when I want to go on hols. What do you think?

I think DD2 was affronted by my description of her physicality on this thread as she chose tonight to execute her first 360 degree roll. Maybe there is hope...

DS1 was 9 months - but he was crawling at 7 months so I guess he was too busy exploring to sit still on his bum (never to do things normally )

DS2 is 6 months and still nowhere near - only rolled over once and occasionally does the gorilla (when I remember to practice with him ) and I don't think he is anywhere near sitting properly.

DD was 10mths so would not have made deadline either

However she did crawl 2weeks later...

between 6 and 8 months is considered normal. But surely the beach is ideal for a baby who needs support. And she can lie on a towel and be perfectly happy anyway.

Mine were 5 and a half months and 8 months.

Just say to him of course she will be darling, and even if shes not by then its too late as the holiday will be booked !!

What is the gorilla???

DD was nearly 3.5mths (14wks) when she sat unaided- rolled at 7.5mths though!

The sand will be excellent, it will cushion her if she does wobble. What about buying a big rubber ring that you place on the towels, that way she will be supported by the ring...and not eat the sand!

Average is meant to be 7 MO. DS sat at 5.5MO. I'd be surprised if yours wasn't sitting at 8.5MO. You just have to hope she's not crawling, just sitting would be the perfect stage for a beach holiday with a baby

AB - sitting upright, legs apart, arms together and hands on floor for support between legs.

Both of mine sat at 5.5 months. We took them on a beach holiday when dd2 was 9 months and crawling and I spent the entire time picking stones out of her mouth and stopping her crawling into the sea or off the edge of the pool.... If they're not moving it's much easier I reckon! - Don't really see that sitting or not sitting makes much ifference though.
