making the best use of kids' quirks

Thought it might be interesting or useful to ask if people have suggestions for making good use of potentially annoying behaviours in kids...?

Like getting the compulsive doodler & non-reader to write comics; or getting the hyperactive unacademic kid into playing sport, for example.

Yesterday I was listening to my Mum whinge about what a trying little brat I was, from about 2 years onwards, because I used to want to sing or whistle all the time and my voice was so penetratingly loud and clear. My reaction would be to stick such a kid in the first cathedral choir available, and make sure they got their daily fill of noise-making, rather than to spend 20 years yelling at the kid to shut up. I think my mum was feeling too harrassed by all the noise to think straight though...

ds3 is obsessed with putting things in lines so he's the one I ask to tidy away the shoes that pile up in the hall!
