Are you able to ask him why is he pushing, and have staff noticed it's always the same child or is he pushing different children each time? It might be that one child in particular isn't sharing or listening, so your son finds this is the only way he is listened to by the other child. He is still only really young, he sounds like a great little boy and I hope it's just a short term, communication issues with another child

Have the Pre-School noticed any triggers like hunger, difficulty with sharing or him needing the toilet?

When they say it’s not normal, are they saying that in their Professional experience his behaviour seems a little extreme and he may need some support?

How does he do on this simple progress checker?

Sorry forgot to ask if Preschool have made any suggestions? What do they do now if they notice that he is struggling?

Ok so are you in England OP? Just asking as I don’t want to give advice that isn’t appropriate for where you live Flowers

If they’re saying he has social issues I would definitely do the progress checker that I linked to earlier too. It will tell you if he needs a bit of support Flowers

Oh that’s strange. Try here and if that doesn’t work, then google Speech & Language UK Progress Checker.

Let us know what the result is, it shouldn’t take too long to fill in Smile

Ok so if they bring it up again I would ask them what triggers they have noticed and what strategies they are using and which ones they have found help and which ones don’t. It may be best if you ask to speak to the Nursery Manager about this.

You could also ask if they have contacted their Area SENCO for advice.

Have they also suggested that you speak to your HV? Smile

nithinsaha · 22/10/2026 07:53

Nursey manager always tells me this is normal behaviour
one of the staff member told me he is having trouble with social skills my concern is they never told us and called for the private meeting always discussed on the pick up
