I’m sick of it with my child - help!

I’ve got a 11yo who’s just joined yr7 he’s already landed himself 4 de-merits & 2 detentions! Only positive is that he’s got 9 merits (not much when compared to de-merits)

im actually sick of his behaviour! All through yr5 & 6 he was a pain in the arse and I was getting calls home. No amount of taking away screen time, (now phone), tablet, socialising is working.

where do I go? I’ve actually had enough!

Sorry that you’re struggling @Blossomroses. Do you know what the de-merits and detentions are for?

Have you managed to speak to his Form Teacher yet about what they have observed in School?

De-merits 1) physical fight 2) messing around in class after being told to stop (it was a group of them)

I haven’t managed to speak to the FT as yet.

A physical fight this early on is unusual. Has he said what has lead up to the fight?

They were both running down the corridors to class and other child pushed into my child and then he pushed back & then it went back & forth from there even after the teacher asked them to stop

This must be hard for you to deal with, especially as High School is so new for him.

It sounds as if he might be having some issues with self regulation? Does he do anything to help himself with that like running or playing sport? If he does does a fair bit of gaming is this interfering with his regulation?

And I know it sounds like a simple thing to do but is he having breakfast? If he’s having trouble regulating a high protein, low UPF breakfast might help him with
