Is it normal for my 6 week old not to smile yet

My baby boy was born at exactly 37 weeks. He’s 6 weeks and 3 days old now and we’ve not had a hint of a smile yet. Health visitor and doctor both asked about it and it’s made me worried. He doesn’t really focus on faces yet either - he does do this on occasion but will often just look past us to a light or something that I think is more interesting to him. He has focused on some black and white sensory toys and he seem to like to look at our dog!

So really I am just asking, is it “normal” that he’s not smiling yet?

I think smiling is a 2 month milestone and your LO is 5 weeks corrected? Is that right? I’m always a bit confused about when they’re classed as full term Smile

I experienced this with my baby who was born at 37+2 weeks and I was worried as he didn’t smile until maybe 8 weeks or so
i know they’re classed as term from 37 weeks but I still think these milestones may differ from a baby born at 40weeks plus?
my baby is nearly 1 and is so smiley and engaging now. Try not to worry!!

I also have a 37 weeker who is not smiling. Eldest was born at 37 weeks and did not smile till 9.5weeks (corrected age 6.5). You need to adjust certain milestones they will be on the later end.

My friend with the same Due date as me had her baby 14days overdue and we have 5 weeks between our kids- now imagine the milestone difference when babies are exactly the same age
